Sample Du’aa for before or after any Khutba

1.     Sample of Du’aa to be read before the first Khutba:

الحمد لله الذى لا يبلغ مدحته القائلون ، ولا يحصى نعمائَه العادون ، ولا يؤدى حقه المجتهدون ،

الذى لا يدركه بعد الهمم ، ولا يناله غوص الفطن

Praise be to God whose praise cannot be adequately expressed

Whose bounties cannot be adequately enumerated

Whose Due cannot be fulfilled by ardent worship

Whom no intellect can perceive, and whom no understanding can reach.

2.     Another sample of Du’aa before the first Khutba:

الحمد لله الذى بطن خفيات الأمور

ودلت عليه اعلام الظهور

 وامتنع على عين البصير

فلا عين من لم يره تنكره

ولا قلب من اثبته يبصره

Praise be to God who knows the innermost secrets of the hearts

Whose power is manifest in His creation,

Whom no eye can perceive Him,

Whom an eye cannot deny His presence even though it cannot perceive Him,

Whose presence fills the heart while it is unable to see Him.

3.     Another sample of Du’aa to be read before the first Khutba:

الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاه والسلام على خير المرسلين  محمد

النبى الأمى وعلى آله وأصحابه اجمعين

ِAl-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Aalameen,

Wassalaatu Wassalaamu Ala Khairl Mursaleen, Muhammad Al-Nabiyil Ummiyee,

Wa Ala Aalihi wa Sahbihi Ajmaeen

Let all Praise be to God, the Lord of the World, and

Let the Blessings and Peace be with the Best of Creation, Muhammad [who is] the unlettered Prophet; and

[let it] be with His Progeny as well as all his Companions.

4.     Another sample of Du’aa to be read before the first Khutba:

الحمد لله نستعينه ونستغفره

ونعوذ به من شرور انفسنا وسيئآت اعمالنا

من يهده الله فلا مضل له ومن يضلل فلا هادي له

واشهد ان لا اله الا الله وحده لا شريك له

واشهد ان محمدا عبده ورسوله

To Allah, our Lord, is the praise; we beseech Him for His blessings, and ask for His protection, and we seek refuge in Him from the mischief of our souls;  He whom Allah guides will not go astray; and he whom Allah finds in error, there is none to guide him.  We declare that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

 5.   Du’aa Al-Wihda

Supplication of Unity

It is recommended to read this Du’aa after every Salat al-Jumu’ah.  Better still to hold hands with each person on your left and right side making a chain unbroken when reading it.  This symbolizes your connections with other Muslim brothers.  This Du’aa can be read after any congregational Salat if you so choose.

Translation

No deity is there except Allah: A Lord who is One, and to Him we submit as Muslims.
No deity is there except Allah:

And with sincerity we worship Him, and to Allah is the Deen though the disbelievers detest it.

No deity is there except Allah:  Our Lord and the Lord of our forefathers.
No deity is there except Allah:

By His Oneness, His Oneness, His Oneness, He fulfills His Promise, advances His subjects, bolsters His servicemen, and by Himself defeats the Evil ones.

So to Him is the Realm, and to Him is the Praise, He instills life and causes death, and He causes death and instills life, and

He is the Ever-living, the One whom death does not touch.  In His hand lies all Goodness, and His Power is over all things.
