Other Variations of Schools of Thought

PHRASES AFTER INTENDING THE SALAT The following phrases are said by many schools of thought in Islam after the intention to pray and before Surah Al-Fatiha. Variations of these phrases also exist depending on the Islamic school of thought. (These phrases are said only by the Sunni Islamic schools of thought. The Shi'a (Ja'fari and Zaidi) say Al-Fatiha directly after saying the intention of the Salat.)
Al-Tashah'hud is said when a praying person sits down after performing either two Rak'as or at the end of the Salat. Al-Tasleem is said following the Tashah'hud at the end of the Salat. Tashah'hud can be said in one of two different versions depending on the Islamic school of thought the person follows. Either way, the words and the phrases are beautiful and reflect the full glorification of the Almighty. (For more detail see Book 11 of the Series of Islamic Books for Beginners.)

OTHER VARIATIONS IN SCHOOLS OF THOUGHT The Tashah'hud mentioned previously showed one difference among various Islamic schools of thought. There are other differences too such as in the third and fourth Rak'a some Islamic schools of thought give the option to either say Surah Al-Fatiha or to say the following phrases three times: (This is the choice of the Shi'a (Ja'fari) School of thought (Ahlul Bayt).
